Princess or Mermaid

Recently my Mum joined a craft club, each week she goes and each time she returns she has a new wonderful idea. This time inspiration came when the lady who runs the club bought everyone a macrame key chain kit, my Mum saw this and a picture online, looked at the bobbles and string and somehow, through some stroke of genius, saw a princess.

So here we are, improving the initial design by using wool to make the dress, which in my mind is a major improvement because when I see these I immediately think Rapunzel from Tangled.

They were such a hit that when she went back she was given a whole new batch to turn into princesses! One text in the group chat and a quick scroll through social media later, and I was brought in. As her design strategy had extended to mermaids, cue my entry with my fish tail braid skills and BAM now we have mermaids too! We both have one of our own now, I asked for red hair to resemble Ariel as she remains my favourite princess.

The following week she returned to the club, and everyone snapped them up, but you needn't think the crafty figurine empire stops there, no no. Whilst the princess and mermaid work continues, another moment of inspiration hit and we have recently progressed into witches! These are a tad harder as the hats are nothing but fiddly to construct, send me back to my happy place plaiting mermaid tails!

Hopefully by Halloween, we will have mastered witches and can officially add them to the production line. Until then, as it stands, the vote is in favour of princesses over mermaids...
